Savory French Dip Squares for Home Cooking Bliss

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound beef roast thinly sliced
  • 1 cup provolone cheese shredded
  • 1 package puff pastry 2 sheets
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley chopped for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
  3. Spread Dijon mustard over the rolled pastry.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer the seasoned beef over the mustard-coated pastry.
  6. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese over the beef.
  7. Cover with the second sheet of puff pastry, sealing the edges with a fork.
  8. Cut the top pastry layer into squares before baking.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. While baking, prepare the au jus by heating beef broth and adding Worcestershire sauce.
  11. Let the squares cool for a few minutes before serving with au jus.
  12. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired before serving.
