Method
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Heat and add olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onions to the skillet and sprinkle with salt.
- Once onions are soft and golden, approximately 30-40 minutes, add black pepper and red chili flakes.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the caramelized onion mixture.
- Serve garnished with fresh basil or parsley and shaving of Parmesan, if using.
