Mason Jar Apple Pie: A Wholesome Dessert Delight

Mason Jar Apple Pie made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium Granny Smith apples peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 pre-made pie crust rolled out
  • 1 egg beaten

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the filling by mixing the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  3. Cut the pie crust into circles that fit the top of your mason jars.
  4. Layer the apple filling into each mason jar, filling them about two-thirds full.
  5. Place the cut pie crust on top of each jar and crimp the edges with your fingers.
  6. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let them cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
