Indulgent Yet Nutritious Healthy Chocolate Bread

This Healthy Chocolate Bread offers a rich, moist texture and a deep chocolate flavor, making it a delightful choice for brunch or a wholesome snack anytime.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, and eggs.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the dark chocolate chips if using, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
