Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips for brownies
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for brownies
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare a baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, salt, and chocolate chips, mixing until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, prepare the brownie batter by melting the semisweet chocolate chips and butter together, either in a microwave or double boiler.
  • Stir in the granulated sugar, followed by the eggs one at a time, then mix in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  • Add dollops of cookie dough on top of the brownie batter, spreading gently.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
