Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar 24 oz marinara or pasta sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Cook penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain grease.
  • Add marinara sauce to the cooked beef. Stir in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta with the meat sauce, cottage cheese, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Top with remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
