Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup protein powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the almond flour, cocoa powder, protein powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, maple syrup, applesauce, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently, being careful not to overmix the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake the donuts for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
