Ingredients
  

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips or nuts, if desired.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes.
  10. Transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
