Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and cake mix.
Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
If using, fold in chocolate chips or sprinkles at this stage.
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
