Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Sprinkle a teaspoon of granulated sugar on top of each cookie before baking.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
