  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup milk (plus more if needed)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

 

  1. Heat-treat the flour to make it safe to eat: spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 5 minutes. Let it cool completely.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Stir in cocoa powder and salt.

  4. Gradually add the cooled flour and mix until combined. If the batter is too thick, add a splash more milk to reach desired consistency.

  5. Fold in mini chocolate chips if desired.

  6. Serve immediately, or chill for a firmer texture.
